Carsten Svanbjerg later accepted a position as Professor of Trombone at the University of Music and Fine Arts in Graz, Austria. He has worked
with many internationally known conductors as a soloist, chamber musician and on numerous recordings. Several composers have dedicated
pieces for trombone to Carsten. Among these are Vagn Holmboe, Ole Schmidt, Gudrun Lund and Leif Thybo who dedicated a Concerto
for Trumpet, Trombone, and String Orchestra premiered with Nashville Symphony 1982 and a Concerto for Trombone, Timpani, and String Orchestra
premiered in Carnegie Hall New York in 1982 to Carsten. He has been a guest artist at many universities around the world presenting
master classes, clinics and solo recitals in Japan, Taiwan, Central Europe and the USA. Some representative institutions include: Harvard (Boston),
Northwestern (Chicago), Maryland, Washington, D.C. and the Juilliard School in New York. Carsten visited the USA for the 34th time in 2005
and premiered the Orlando Concerto, op. 16 for Trombone and Symphonic Wind Band by Reinhard Summerer (Austria). This work was dedicated
to him for that trip to Florida. He has been given the highest awards from the International Trombone Association (1996) and from the Musicians
Union in Denmark in 1986.
