A Tribute to J. S. Bach Ā©

Bach and organ music – two inseparable parts. Without their cohesion western music history would have been considerably poorer. Bachā€™s influence on the music of future generations for the instrument is enormous, and when following composers as for instance Franz Liszt or Max Reger in different ways let themselves be inspired to let BACH be the pivot of their compositions, there is hardly any doubt about their respect and gratitude to the enriching works by this organ master. Or as Schumann expressed himself on his working with his fugues on the name/notes BACH: ā€œIt is a work, that I have had to work on the entire last year in order to simply make it worthy of the high name, that the work bears in its titleā€.
This CD recording consists of works, which in different ways are based on the phenomenon BACH. The composers and arrangers of music, who are represented here, were central figures of the revitalizing of the music of the old masters in the 19th century, among those not least the music of J.S. Bach. In a repertory, that permits the fascinating organ of the Aarhus Cathedral to unfold in a symphony of varied timbres, the understanding of Bachā€™s influence on the genre organ music is extended through kaleidoscopic glasses.
