Kristian KrogsĆøe

Kristian KrogsĆøe (b. 1982) has since 2007 been appointed cathedral organist at the Aarhus Cathedral. Besides he teaches organ (soloist organ class) at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and Esbjerg.
He studied organ with prof. Ulrik Spang-Hanssen at the Royal Academy in Aarhus and with prof. Leo van Doeselaar and Erwin Wiersinga in the soloist class at the UniversitƤt der KĆ¼nste in Berlin.
Since his debut in the Berliner Dom, Kristian KrogsĆøe has given recitals with a wide repertory in Denmark as well as abroad.
In the spring of 2012 Kristian KrogsĆøeā€™s first CD was released with the complete organ works by Maurice DuruflĆ© and his Requiem and Motets together with the Aarhus Cathedral Choir, the vocal group Concert Clemens, Carsten Seyer-Hansen, Bo Skovhus, and Randi Stene. The CD was entered on the ā€˜Best-Seller-Listā€™ of the German Association of Music Critics. (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik).
As a soloist with orchestra he has performed with the Berliner Staatsoper in Busoniā€™s opera, Doktor Faust conducted by Daniel Barenboim and in the Organ Concerto by Poulenc, Symphony no. 8 by Mahler, and Symphony no. 3 by Saint-SaĆ«ns together with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra conducted by Giancarlo Andretta, Leif Segerstam, and Alexander Vedernikov.
As an accompanist of choirs he has among others worked with the Danish Broadcasting Vocal Ensemble and the choir of The Danish National Opera under the conducters Stefan Parkman and Marcus Creed.

Bach and organ music – two inseparable parts. Without their cohesion western music history would have been considerably poorer. Bachā€™s influence on the music of future generations for the instrument is enormous, and when following composers as for instance Franz Liszt or Max Reger in different ways let themselves be inspired to let BACH be the pivot of their compositions, there is hardly any doubt about their respect and gratitude to the enriching works by this organ master. Or as Schumann expressed himself on his working with his fugues on the name/notes BACH: ā€œIt is a work, that I have had to work on the entire last year in order to simply make it worthy of the high name, that the work bears in its titleā€.
This CD recording consists of works, which in different ways are based on the phenomenon BACH. The composers and arrangers of music, who are represented here, were central figures of the revitalizing of the music of the old masters in the 19th century, among those not least the music of J.S. Bach. In a repertory, that permits the fascinating organ of the Aarhus Cathedral to unfold in a symphony of varied timbres, the understanding of Bachā€™s influence on the genre organ music is extended through kaleidoscopic glasses.
